but I have been doing this for a long time and I would recommend against this book since there are many better places … Very basic, and may be a little fast paced for beginners. This will teach you how to make static web pages, and by the end of it you should be able to create a semi-decent website – but honestly overall it’s nothing you can’t learn for free through CodeAcadamy, a few YouTube videos, or W3School.org. I am no where near being an expert web designer or developer, but I have been doing this for a long time and I would recommend against this book since there are many better places to learn to create web sites and pages.NOTCE:I purchased this book purely out of obligation of completing the end-of-chapter work for a college class. I purchased the eBook version since I was carrying a laptop back and forth for school and it is very important that you determine rather or not you only need half the book before purchasing, because the eBook version only extends to Chapter 8 and will not have any of the content afterwards. I am not sure if this is supposed to be like this or not…

Good resource for beginners I rented this book last semester for a class I was taking, and it’s a good resource, but I did not feel compelled to purchase it outright in the end.The way the author writes about the internet and websites really takes you back to the mid 2000’s, and the example web pages you build look just as old. Still, it does teach really good skills and protocol for writing code. This book covers everything from links and page layouts to tables and forms. With all the larger assignments in each chapter, there are nice step-by-step instructions on how to get from point A to point B, with pictures of how your code should look along the way. There are a few discrepancies where what’s pictured in the chapter for what should be in your code, doesn’t properly match what you actually need to type to arrive to the desired end product. Because of this, you definitely want to be familiar with other resources to validate code and to look up examples for different techniques…

Good introduction but nothing special. This book is very well structured, easy to read, has great activities and “tests”. However the book is very basic and the only advanced part of the book is the responsive design part. The information in this book does not warrant the ludicrous price for a new copy, and I’m guessing at least 90% of the people who bought this book are college students and to them I’d like to say sorry because I am as well. The only thing I learned from this book is the responsive design which is the meta tag with media and other things assigned to it with the same in CSS. You can find most if not all of the information for free in this book online at codeacademy.org and a quick reference to everything at wc3 schools. If you need this for class, borrow a friend’s for the assignments.
